Wasn’t it Plato who opposed the written word because the author wasn’t present to defend it? WHATCHU GOT NOW, DOGG?

I think the lesson here is that “the author matters exactly as much as any given response on Yahoo Answers,” which is perhaps a MORE extreme argument than Barthes was going for.
